July 17, 2018 – Congratulations to Newbury junior, Dylan Foran, who had his photos of Boston College High School’s boys lacrosse team and coach featured in a USA Today article profiling Coach Steve Lydon.
Foran said, “This is the first time my photos have been featured on a level like this. Over this past summer, my photos have been used in USA Today, The Boston Globe, BostonLax.net, and by numerous professional athletes. It is amazing to see how far I have come as a photographer.”
Foran became involved with sports photography in his senior year at BC High, having been inspired by Dave Arnold, a local professional sports photographer. Foran now attends many Newbury and BC High sporting events, taking thousands of photos.
He said, “My favorite part about photography is being able to « capture » a moment that only lasts for a millisecond and have it forever. As a lifelong sports fan, working in photography is amazing as I am always finding new details of different games when I look at the photos I have captured. It is an interesting way of analyzing the unnoticed details of the game.”
Dylan is majoring in sport management at Newbury and is involved in many facets of campus. Beyond working closely with athletics because of photography, Foran also plays on the men’s soccer and lacrosse teams. He serves as President of SGA, President of the photography club, member of SAAC and as an orientation leader.
