Lindsey Garvey Appointed to Senior Woman Administrator Role

June 7, 2018 – Newbury College Director of Athletics Jonathan Harper announces Lindsey Garvey to the Senior Woman Administrator role, effectively immediately. Garvey has been with Newbury College since March 2017 as Head Women's Soccer Coach and enters her second season as head coach this coming fall semester.

In her role as SWA, Garvey will serve as the highest-ranking woman in the Newbury Athletics Department. She will be charged with the responsibility of strategizing ways to support and manage gender equity and Title IX plans and issues; advocate issues important to female and male student-athletes, coaches and staff; lead student-athletes in successfully balancing academics and athletics, and review equity in Athletics Disclosure Act Reports and the Gender Equity Plans.

"I am excited to serve the Newbury College Athletics Department and our student-athletes in this role," said Garvey. "I would like to thanks Jonathan Harper and the administration for the opportunity to be a better resource to coaches and students through leadership and advocacy. I look forward to continuing my professional growth and working alongside our incredible staff to enhance the student-athlete experience and department initiatives."

Garvey's first action as SWA came at the New England Collegiate Conference Athletic Directors meetings on May 23-24, speaking as an advocate at the two-day conference at Becker College.

"Lindsey has demonstrated a sincere dedication to the operation of the Department of Athletics and all student-athletes," said Harper.  "Coach Garvey has made a tremendous impact on the department in a short period of time. I am confident that her appointment as SWA by President Chillo will continue to enhance her growth as an administrator."

Along with her role as SWA and Women's Soccer Coach, Garvey also serves as the assignor for game-management responsibilities, including the assigning and management of student-athletes eligible for work study and the assigning of staff as game-managers. Garvey also monitors fundraising efforts for all athletic teams at Newbury College.
