Apr. 9, 2019 – On Friday April 6, the Newbury Community gathered in the Student Center Auditorium to celebrate the recipients of the 2018 student leader awards. One hundred and fifty eight students were invited to attend the brunch.
Dean of Student Affairs Jenn Forry said in her opening remarks, “This year we have invited a special group of student leaders to the awards ceremony, those who through mentorship, resilience and action have shaped the Newbury student culture.”
Newbury President, Joseph L. Chillo, began the ceremony by announcing Ansa Nisar as the 2018 Student Commencement Speaker.
Student Leaders were recognized throughout the morning, including officers of Newbury’s 23 clubs and organizations, Admissions Ambassadors, Orientation Leaders, Peer Mentors, Resident Assistants, as well as participants of the empowerMENt retreat and graduates of the Leadership Academy.
The event also included the inauguration and Oath of Office for the new Student Government Association officers: Dylan Foran as SGA President, Jordan Robertson as VP of Academic Initiatives, and Meaghan Irving as VP of Student Life.
After a difficult selection process by the Student Leadership Awards Selection Committee, the following students were honored:

Program of the Year: Flag Football Fundraiser, Admissions Ambassadors
New Student Organization of the Year: Physical Aptitude Club (PAC)

Club Leader of the Year: Meaghan Irving
