Jan. 10, 2018 – Congratulations to Nighthawks junior, Savannah Olsen, who earned her 1000th career point over the weekend against Elms College. She is the fourth player in program history to record 1000 career points and did so in only 66 games—11 games sooner than the previous record.
She says, “It feels great to be recognized for something I have worked so hard for, and also have the people that helped you get there all around you!”
The Nighthawks defeated the Elms Blazers 79-40, with 23 points coming from Olsen.
Olsen has had a successful career at Newbury. She was named the 2016 NECC Rookie of the Year, selected to the 2016 All-NECC Third Team and became the sixth player in program history to reach the 30-point plateau.
Olsen says she enjoys playing for the Nighthawks women’s basketball team. “I love being a part of an extended family. Also, being out there with these girls is a blessing. They are all so talented and they push me every day.”
Congratulations to Olsen on all of her achievements and Newbury wishes her luck throughout the rest of her basketball career.
