Aug. 8, 2017 – Congratulations to Newbury College’s Director of Human Resources, Amy Downing, on being elected Chapter President of College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR). This organization for HR professionals “serve[s] higher education by providing the knowledge, resources, advocacy and connections to achieve organizational and workforce excellence,” according to their mission statement.
This is an exciting opportunity for Downing, who has been with Newbury since 2007. She says, “We've been hard at work as a board and have been able to put together some amazing programming over the years. On July 1, I began my tenure as Chapter President and I look forward to the challenge of increasing our membership, expanding the role of our sponsors, and working on our fall and spring programming.”
Downing has worked with higher education for 17 years and has been involved with CUPA-HR since the beginning. CUPA-HR serves as a resource and community to discuss higher education workplace issues across all types of colleges, in the United States and abroad. Downing says, “At the Chapter level, we offer opportunities for professional development and the chance to make connections with other human resources professionals in higher education. This is especially important to those of us working in small colleges.”
We wish Downing luck as she takes on this new role.
