Women's Sports

Newbury offers basketball, cross country, lacrosse, soccer, softball, track & field, and volleyball for women’s sports. Athletics is an important aspect of the Newbury Community which is why the College aims to provide a positive and engaging experience for all student-athletes. Newbury recently added women’s lacrosse and track & field to the roster, expanding the size and influence of Nighthawk Athletics.

Our student-athletes strive for success within themselves and their teams. Many Nighthawks are honored by the NECC every year for weekly distinctions or as part of the All-Academic or All-Conference teams. Two-sport athlete, Elizabeth Kia, of women’s soccer and softball, attended the 2016 NCAA Convention and women’s basketball player, Destiny Spears, attended the NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum.

The Nighthawks also saw successful seasons in 2016. Women’s soccer made it to the playoffs and women’s volleyball went all the way to the semifinals. Softball also was successful, both on the field and in the classroom. The 2015-2016 team was ranked No. 1 in the nation for GPA while also making it to the championship tournament.
