Employers wishing to host a Newbury intern are advised to post an internship description through the Experiential Education & Career Services Center. It is recommended that a host employer request potential interns to submit a resume, cover letter, and to complete an interview as a part of the selection process.
What is Expected of a Host Employer?
The hands-on site experience is managed by a host employer. Each student will have a designated site supervisor to whom they will report at their internship site.
1. Site supervisors are required to submit a job description to our Career Connect job portal.
2. Site supervisors are required to complete a post-internship evaluation for the student prior to the semester end date.
Newbury's Internship Requirements
All baccalaureate degree candidates, after completing 60 credits, may participate in a 150-hour internship experience directly related to their major course of study. This placement is paired with an online course. Bachelor’s students in the Culinary Management and Hospitality Management programs may choose to complete two internships - one after completing 30 credits and the second after 60. Associate degree students in Culinary Arts and Baking and Pastry must complete one 300-hour internship, including an online course component, after earning 30 credits.
An internship is typically unpaid, though select employers may choose to compensate their intern(s) in some manner.
